SIDE BY SIDE BOOK REVIEWS

IF YOU ENJOYED: The Maze Runner by James Dashner

TRY: Blackbird by Anna Carey

BECAUSE:

At least when Thomas woke up in the Glade, he knew his name. In Anna Carey’s YA Thriller, Blackbird, a girl wakes up on a train and she doesn’t know anything about herself.

The only clue she has is a tattoo on her arm.

Oh, and the fact that people are trying to kill her.

Blackbird has all the twists and action of The Maze Runner, but is written in second person. Which is awesome. I mean, how many books do you see in second person?

IF YOU ENJOYED: Paper Towns by John Green

TRY: Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid

BECAUSE:

Addictive read? Check.
Extremely quotable lines? Yup.
Road trip? You bet.

Adi Alsaid’s Let’s Get Lost is a beautiful piece of contemporary fiction that fans of John Green will devour.

The novel takes readers through the perspective of four different characters: Hudson, Bree, Elliot and Sonia. Only connected by the fact that their life was changed by a girl named Leila.

But Leila has a story of her own, traveling North on a 4,000+ mile journey to see the Northern lights. It’s fun, fast, and moving.

OTHER READS TO WATCH OUT FOR…

REVIVAL by Stephen King

That’s right, King’s got another one coming, and this one looks as dark as it does promising. Spanning five decades, this novel deals with addiction, religion, and other small-town demons. Plus, it’s Stephen King, so feel free to pick it up without even reading the summary.

13 HOURS: THE INSIDE ACCOUNT OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN BENGHAZI by Mitchell Zuckoff

To take a little break from fiction, Zuckoff’s novel is a true account of September 11th, 2012, in which the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a CIA Station were attacked by terrorists in Benghazi, Libya. The action-packed account of the heroism throughout the thirteen hours of the attack is a must-read.

AFTERWORLDS by Scott Westerfeld

Returning to the addictive YA reads comes Uglies’ author Scott Westerfeld in his newest work of complete Bookception. Afterworlds combines the story of Darcy, a young debut author of YA and Lizzie, the heroine of Darcy’s own book. So…a book within a book. Yes, it’s as awesome as it sounds. Even if the size of the book is a bit daunting, it’s well-paced and exciting.
