Math teacher Joe Nidy was kicked out of middle school choir not only once, but twice.

After some horseplay in the music room with his classmates, Nidy was thrown out of select choir by his music teacher. Nidy said, “It was middle school so it doesn’t count; middle school boys are dumb. I was messing around with a bunch of other boys, singing a song and we had these little hand motions and we were clapping our hands and snapping our fingers to the music and the music teacher didn’t think it was funny but we kept doing it – so she called our parents and we all got kicked out.”

Nidy’s bad luck in choir didn’t end there, however, when Nidy’s teacher made the mistake of inviting him, and the rest of the boys, back into the class for a second chance. Nidy, unconcerned and indifferent about the class, never learned how to read music and never had the intention to, even though it was a requirement. When his teacher gave him the bad news, for the second time, that he couldn’t be in select choir if he couldn’t read music, Nidy responded with, “Well, I guess I’m not going to be in select choir then!”
