Junior Christopher Pawlusik has been collecting and learning about watches for over six years.

When it comes to watches, most people probably have one or two. They simply use them to tell time or perhaps use them know the date. However, when it comes to Pawlusik, he does not just simply have a couple watches; he has a watch for everyday of the week.

In addition, Pawlusik knows much about each watch and also knows a lot about watches that he doesn’t even own.

When asked about what exactly made him interested in watches, Pawlusik said, “My brother (Alex) started liking watches and that was an influence on me. Plus, all of the heroes in action movies had all these nice watches.”

Many may not remember what the first watch they ever owned was, or simply may not have paid attention, but Pawlusik remembers his first watch. “My first watch was Kenneth Cole. And yes, I still have it,” he said.

Pawlusik has done a lot of research on several brands of watches. Everybody has different opinions about which brand is the best. Pawlusik said, “The best brand out there is Patek Philippe because only the best of the best can afford them.”

A Patek Philippe watch ranges in price from $40,000 to more than $100,000. Although Pawlusik does not currently own one, he aspires to in the future.

On the other hand, Pawlusik said, “Casio watches are not very good because they are very basic and made of plastic.”

Pawlusik owns many watches from several different brands.  He said, “I have watches [from the brands] Nixon, Kenneth Cole, Casio, Fossil, Victorinox.”

Each of these watches has its own unique characteristics and each is very different from one another.

Pawlusik mentioned that people tend to ask about his watches. He said, “A lot of people always ask how many watches I have. Then, [when they find out] they say ‘wow one for everyday of the week’.”

This interest in watches has proven to be beneficial for not only Pawlusik but for others as well. He has helped numerous people that he knows find the right watch for them. He’s had an influence on many of his friends too.

Several people in Pawlusik’s life share his hobby. “Both of my brothers and my friends Edwin Sapozhnikov and Daniel Bosoy [share this hobby],” said Pawlusik.

Even if Pawlusik has not directly suggested a watch to get, he has suggested different watches that he likes. For example, teacher Terry Lardell said that although Pawlusik has not given him direct advice, he did say which watches he likes.

Lardell said, “Chris has found an interest and I think it is great to have an interest outside of class so you can think about something you haven’t before.”

Many peers, friends and family members approve of Pawlusik’s hobby and interest in watches. This includes his mom. He said, “My mom says watches are the only jewelry that a man can wear.”

Further, junior Josh Thomas said,” [Chris] is very knowledgeable on the subject [of watches].  He told me to not buy certain brands [and to buy others].”

Although Pawlusik already has all of these watches and knows a lot already, he is far from being done. “I plan to get even more watches soon,” said Pawlusik.
