Interviewing my Italian teacher Mrs. Fini, was a delightful experience that offered a deep dive into both Italian language and Italian culture. During our conversation, Mrs. Fini shared insights into what made her what to teach Italian, strategies and also highlighting how language reflects cultural values and traditions. We explored her personal journey of learning and teaching Italian, uncovering her passion for fostering cultural connections and her innovative approaches to making the language accessible and engaging for students. Her stories about Italy, added a vibrant context to our discussion making it clear how her personal experiences and cultural background profoundly shaped her teaching career.

My Italian teacher is an engaging blend of passion and expertise, embodying the rich traditions of Italian culture while making the language come alive in the classroom, with an contagious enthusiasm for both teaching and Italian. Mrs Fini brings a unique perspective that goes beyond grammar and vocabulary. Mrs. Fini plays a role in students’ stress by offering guidance, support, and a comforting existence during challenging times with students. I offered a question to Mrs. Fini about, What are some common challenges your students face when learning Italian, and how do you help them overcome these challenges? Mrs Fini says, “Speaking is the hardest because students do not want to go out of their comfort zone. I help them by telling them “I’ll help you’’ and “Tell me what you know’’. Mrs. Fini helps students learn the language through a variety of effective strategies, with games, interacting with others and even students speaking a tiny bit, she loves that. She provides feedback on assignments and speaking practice, addressing each student’s unique challenges. Fini gives help to anyone and balances all aspects of language learning, listening, and speaking.
