Students prepare for Halloween this Thursday.
Senior Franncesca Diasio is getting ready to spend Halloween with an act of service. She said, “I’m going to school and helping the preschoolers with their halloween party and then at night I’ll pass out candy.”
Ryan Kerry is a senior at Mayfield. He said, “My plans for Halloween is to go to OSU.”
Senior Nick Carcelli is spending Halloween just chilling around. He said, “Me, my friend Dante and Dom are going to watch Thursday night football and maybe snack on some candy.”
Diasio is excited to eat candy this Halloween. “When my little sister comes home with all of her candy and I get to eat my favorite candies from when she went trick or treating”, she said.
Carcelli enjoys Halloween. He said, “I think it’s fun because everyone gets to dress up and get a lot of free candy.”
Diasio likes to pass out candy and hang out. She said, “[I] eat candy and watch halloween movies, and even bake cookies.
Kerry has specific traditions on Halloween. He said, “We used to go to Summit every Halloween. My aunt had a house right next to the people and she would have a party and we would go trick or treating.”
Diasio, hangs out with her family which is her usual tradition. She said, “My neighbor has a Halloween party and my whole family goes.”
Kerry and Diasio think that we should get school off on Halloween. Diasio said, “Yes, because it’s a holiday and it gives students a break.” Kerry also said, “I think we should have school off because it’s a national holiday and we get off for every other national holiday.”
Unlike Diasio and Kerry, Carcelli thinks we should still have school. He said, “I don’t think we should get the day off school because all of the kids get to attend their Halloween party and all you do is really just pass out candy at 6pm.”
When discussing candy, Diasio has a strong preference. She said, “A Twix specifically the left Twix because it’s superior to the right.”
Carcelli loves anything that’s gummies. He said, “I really like the gummies, the fruity type of candies. I do not like chocolate.”
On the other hand Kerry enjoys the opposite of Carcelli. Kerry said, “Definitely a Kitkat because they are my favorite and taste the best.”
Over the years and getting older Halloween has changed. Diasio said, “When I was younger I used to go trick or treating with my sisters and we used to get dressed up in our costumes and now we pass out candy to younger kids in the neighborhood.”
Carcelli has a similar view. He said, “When I was younger all of my family would come over and everyone from the extended family would trick or treat and trade candy, and now that we’re older I really just chill with my friends and none of my family comes over.”
Diasio also enjoys watching Disney Halloween TV shows. She said, “I don’t have any favorite Halloween movies but I really like the Disney specials such as Good Luck Charlie, Liv and Maddie, and Austin and Ally.”
Happy Halloween!
