Introduction

Growing up, I have never experienced a Christmas. It never really bothered me, and I always had a long relaxing winter break to look forward to. Recently though, me and my dad spent a good long while struggling to decorate a tree. It was really fun, decorating was probably the only thing I really felt that I was missing out on.

Gifts

I was once a Secret Santa, and was pretty lucky to be given a really close friend of mine. Vishista Nayak, a senior at MHS, – the person I got – actually admitted that the best gift she’s gotten was mine, “the first one I’ve gotten, which was in a Secret Santa. It was a dog stuffed with a Christmas hat, as well as two hats, eye curlers and a ton of other stuff..”

Senior, Aaron Miller, told me his best was when Adrian Polin, another MHS Senior, got me a lego set once – a car. It’s one of the only Christmas gifts I’ve gotten because I’m Jewish.” Which is something I love about gifting between friends because some of the only Christmas gifts I got were from friends.

Secret Santa

Sometimes the act of gift giving is done through what is known as a Secret Santa. Where a group will be given a random person in the group to get a gift for, usually within a budget. Most of the time this is pretty hit or miss, some people love the surprise while some despise the thought of having to come up with a gift for a random person. Though, many agree it can be fun when done with a close knit group of friends.
