Coach Patty is a first-year math teacher and cheer coach at Mayfield High School. With a lifelong passion for cheerleading, she’s excited to share her love for the sport with her students. She believes that being involved in sports and clubs helps students grow by teaching valuable skills like teamwork, discipline, and leadership. Although this is her first year coaching basketball cheerleading, Coach Patty has enjoyed the learning experience and has had fun improving her coaching skills. She’s especially grateful for working alongside Coaches Hannah Schmidt and Taylor Menston, as well as the cheer squad. One key lesson she’s learned this year is how cheerleading can unite the community and boost school spirit. To keep the team motivated, she stays positive and actively participates in practices. Her favorite routine so far is the halftime cheer to “Beauty of the Beat,” which energizes both the team and the crowd. Looking ahead, Coach Patty is excited for tryouts, always eager to see new talent and enthusiasm. She also makes sure to rotate leadership roles so that every cheerleader has the opportunity to take charge and call a cheer.
Dina Trivisonno, is a sophomore at Mayfield, and this is her first year on the cheerleading team. Even though she’s new to cheerleading, she’s already discovering how exciting and rewarding it can be. Joining the team has given her the chance to bond with her friends while also being part of something bigger, and she’s loving every moment of it. Dina decided to join the cheer team this year because she thought it would be a great way to bond with her friends and be part of her school’s community. She wanted to get involved and create new memories with people she cared about, and cheerleading gave her that chance. Her favorite part of being on the team is stunting. She finds it so much fun and enjoys the challenge of working with her teammates to make it happen. It’s a skill that excites her, and she looks forward to it at every practice. To stay focused and motivated during practice, Dina makes sure to lock in and not get distracted by her friends. She knows that practicing hard is the best way to improve, so she keeps her mind on the task and stays determined to do her best.
Kennedy Garner, a sophomore at Mayfield, has been cheering since she was little and has always been on the same squad as me. Her experience and passion for cheerleading shine through in everything she does, and it’s clear that she loves being part of the team. Kennedy’s favorite cheer and stunt to do is the extension and cradle. She loves how it looks, and it’s always exciting to perform. The skill and teamwork it takes to pull off a perfect extension and cradle is something she truly enjoys. When it comes to working with her teammates, Kennedy makes an effort to become friends with everyone. She believes that building friendships makes it easier to work together and creates a stronger, more supportive team environment. Kennedy also thinks that being a good cheerleader means being loud and having great spirit. It’s about bringing energy and excitement to every routine, which helps motivate the whole team and gets the crowd involved.
