Now that the end of the year is approaching, the class of ‘25 will be coming to the end of high school. Graduation is only weeks away and this will be their final moments in the school. The past 12 years of their lives they’ve been working up to this moment and all that time, struggle, and tears are finally going to pay off.
When I got the chance to talk to a senior about their years in Mayfield I decided to talk to Addie Sanelli. She is a well rounded student who has great grades as well as amazing athletic abilities. She works hard to reach her goals, while talking to Addie about her plans after high school she was saying, “Being a part of the TEACH program the past two years has solidified my desire to work with young children and make a difference in their lives. For the past two years has shown me how much I love working with young kids and want to make a difference in their lives. After high school, I plan to continue my education at Bowling Green State University, where I will study early childhood education and pursue my goal of becoming a teacher.” Mayfield has given Addie that chance to discover her future plan by being a part of their exceltec program. As stated above Addie is an athlete for Mayfield and she’s been playing them for years. She has been playing volleyball and track since sixth grade, once she got into high school she discovered she liked to be a diver for the swim team. One could only imagine how big of a difference attending school and not playing a sport could be after doing it for years. Addie has had many experiences at this school and being able to talk to her I asked her for advice that she would give to the underclassmen, she stated, “Advice I would give to the underclassmen is not to take high school too seriously because it’ll be over before you know it. Have fun with your friends while you can.” I truly believe that people could listen to this quote because the quarters and semesters go by fast and if you’re too worried about what’s going on around you you won’t be able to enjoy yourself.
Not only was I given the chance to talk to a senior, I also got to talk to people she’s close to. I talked to Junior Nina Clark and Freshman Adien Sanelli. Nina Clark is friends with Addie and had been since she came into high school. Nina said, “She became a very mature and very intelligent individual and the advice I would give her is, be yourself and don’t change to be who people want to be.” Next, Aiden Sanelli (Addie’s brother) was asked what was his favorite moment with them being in the same school and he said, “We’re in the same science class so we have fun.” Lastly, advice that Addie has given Aiden since being in high school is, “stay organized and keep track of assignments and deadlines, which helps me manage my time better.”
Addie has made an impact on many people, especially her friends and family. She planned out her future and will graduate to go off and do good things. Not just for her but those little kids she wants to help. Addie has done amazing achievements but she will go off and do many amazing more things.
