Graduation is approaching for the 2025 graduating class very quickly. These students have been through a lot in their years of education, and it is the time of year when the end looks to be close in sight. For many students, this is a very exciting and rewarding time, seeing that all their hard work through numerous years is paying off. These seniors deserve much recognition and praise for all their hard work.
When I got the opportunity to interview any senior for a spotlight, I wanted to interview a childhood friend of mine, Audrey Galgocy, whom I grew up with. I have known Audrey since elementary school, and I have seen her grow into the person she is today. Audrey has been an important part of the school by making impacts on the girl’s soccer team, being a Wildcat focus mentor, being a member of Medtech, participating in hard classes and fun school events, as well as many more activities. As her high school career starts to come to an end, she looks to continue to succeed in the future. Audrey is planning to attend Bowling Green College to study nursing. Yet, with all these great accomplishments that Audrey has achieved and will achieve, she explained to me that she can accomplish them because of her childhood and her academic career growth. Even though she believes that she is who she is because of her childhood and there is nothing she would change about it, she does describe that she would change a situation in her sophomore year. She realized that she wouldn’t have taken AP chem due to the difficulty level of the math that she wasn’t at yet. Nevertheless, she didn’t let it stop her. Audrey explained that her favorite memory of high school was “Getting to play soccer all four years”. Audrey is a great and hard-working athlete who dedicates plenty of time to her sport. In addition to being a leader that her teammates look up to, she also is a leader to underclass students. Audrey puts into words her advice to underclassmen: “Make sure you do well in the beginning because it is really hard to change your GPA after the fact”. With Audrey being a great student in high school, her advice can be very influential on younger students to allow them the ability to reach the same level of success as she has. With Audrey setting her sights on graduating, I wanted to know if she believes she has grown throughout her years in high school, and she explained, “I am more motivated than I was as well as focused now than my freshmen year”. Audrey has grown into an amazing person through her years of hard work.
In addition to interviewing Audrey, I wanted to interview people who have been with her throughout her life. Therefore, I decided to talk to her sister, Claire Galgoczy, and my mother, Nicole Pinzone. Claire is a freshman at Mayfield High School. She has a great relationship with her sister and even got to play with her on the soccer team her senior year. I wanted to know if Claire looked up to Audrey and her influence as well as why. She responded with, “Yes, because she is my older sister. She has helped me figure out all my classes”. Just Audrey’s presence in Claire’s life has an influence on her. As her sister is moving away, I wanted to allow Claire to provide her sister with some advice where she expressed, “Don’t change yourself. Make sure to take college seriously but still have fun and enjoy your time”. Moreover, my mother watched Audrey when she was a little kid. Audrey would come over to our house every day after elementary school. Even though my mom hasn’t watched Audrey in a long time, she has still spent time with her and watched her grow up. Nicole explained that, “She has grown up to be such a smart, hardworking, caring, and successful young lady. I can not wait to see what the future holds for her”. Nicole Pinzone is very proud of Audrey and can’t believe how fast she has grown up. When asked how she feels about her graduating this year, she responded with, “I am very proud of Audrey. She is a hard worker, and she should be so proud of everything that she has accomplished as well as worked for”. Both Claire and Nicole Pinzone are very proud of this graduating senior and are so glad to have her in their life.
Audrey has her whole future ahead of her, and she should be very proud of how far she has come. She has made such an influential impact already on so many people’s lives, and this is just the beginning. Her childhood and her experiences may have made her who she is today, and she will continue to grow, making extreme positive impacts on her life and others.
