As we reach the end of the year, our 2025 class is soon to graduate. I was very fortunate enough to interview an amazing senior, Nichole Paradise. Her passion for Art Education has set the course for her future. After graduation, she plans to attend Akron University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, with hopes of inspiring the next generation of students. Nichole shares what she’s learned, the friendships she’s made, and the advice she’d give to those who follow in her footsteps.
Nichole has been attending Mayfield Schools for seven years, including both middle school and high school. Throughout her time here, she’s played floor hockey for eight years and softball for five. After graduation, Nichole plans to attend Akron University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education. One of her favorite memories from school is applying to Excel Tech, which allowed her to learn from two schools and leave earlier each day. Reflecting on her growth, she shares that she’s learned the importance of her grades and has gained clarity about what she wants to do in the future. Nichole particularly enjoys the creative projects and internships offered by the TEACH program, which have helped her in her current role as a preschool teacher. When it comes to advice for younger students, she encourages them to focus on their grades, be kind to everyone they meet, and accept that some friendships may not last forever. Her final piece of advice is to do the best you can for yourself, without feeling the need to impress others.
Nichole is clearly well-liked by her peers and teachers. Bella Caserta, a fellow student, describes her as “a really fun person to be around” and adds, “She is the nicest senior I know.” These qualities have made Nichole a beloved figure at Mayfield. When asked what makes Nichole stand out, Bella also shared, “I think she is a very cool person and doesn’t try to fit in, which makes her stand out.” Mr. Wargo, a teacher who has worked with Nichole, offers some thoughtful advice for her future: “Work hard and don’t be afraid to try new things and meet new people.” This encouragement reflects Nichole’s growth during her time at Mayfield, and both Bella and Mr. Wargo believe she has the potential to excel in whatever she chooses to pursue after graduation. Kelly Johanns, shares her hopes for Nichole’s future: “I hope she continues to follow her unique path.” As she prepares to move on to college, Nichole’s positive reputation and strong work ethic will undoubtedly guide her in the next chapter of her life.
As Nichole prepares to take the next steps toward her future, it’s clear that her time at Mayfield has not only shaped her academic and career aspirations but has also helped her grow into a well-rounded, compassionate individual. Her peers and teachers alike admire her for her authenticity and strong work ethic, believing she has the potential to succeed in whatever path she chooses. With the support of friends like Bella Caserta, guidance from mentors like Mr. Wargo, and encouragement from Kelly Johanns, Nichole is ready to embrace the opportunities that await her.
