December 11, 2015
Mayfield High Schools student’s exhibit assured pride every day as they walk the halls.
Being proud is feeling satisfaction or pride within yourself. The students show pride almost every day in many different ways.
Mayfield English and literature teacher Kerry Rutigliano is very passionate about her job and the way her students act in her classes. She believes pride is just about always shown in school.
Rutigliano said, “I think pride is witnessed almost every day in terms of the sense of self-worth, style, and intellect and in the exchanges in everyday life from the lunchroom, conversations with friends, United Nations and collegially in terms of sporting events. The kids show that they’re proud in many ways.”
There are many students who are well known for showcasing pride around the school. Many people may not even know how much of an impact they have on their peers. By them having pride, it can cause others to become proud as well.
Sophomore Peyton Cobbin believes that Mr. Legan, principal, has an impact on why the students show pride in his school. She said, “Mr. Legan always seems really happy to be at Mayfield and be a principal. And very proud of all of the student’s hard work and effort.”
Mayfield does a lot to try and get students proud to be a wildcat such as pep-rally assemblies and fundraiser’s which helps students become more pleased with the high school. Mr. Legan does a lot for them and the things he does influences the students to be happy and positive in school.
Sophomore Sara Peters shows there are a few different ways students show their pride from what she sees during her day at school. She said, “Students show pride within school spirit when cheering on sports teams. Also putting a lot of time and effort in their school work that they do.”
Pride is showed by the student’s actions not only toward sports but their work that they do in school and their actions towards their classmates during the school day.
Peters also said, “The students always seem to enjoy being a part of Mayfield because of the students that are proud in school.”
