Students express love for autumn
October 18, 2016
October means two things—the end of sweltering weather and the start of fall festivities. Many students love the season and all that comes with it.
Senior Paige Muttilo enjoys the change in scenery. “The way the leaves change color is beautiful and makes the forest outside my house more colorful,” she said.
Junior Alexa Passafiume also loves the different colors of leaves. “It makes everything so pretty and vibrant,” she said.
Autumn also brings the falling of leaves from treetops to front lawns and backyards. This calls for the dreaded chore of raking leaves. However, it is not such a bad task for Muttilo.
Muttilo has always loved raking the leaves into a huge pile and then jumping in it. “I’ve done this ever since I was little and I still love doing it now,” she said. Even though it makes a mess, it is still her favorite part of fall.
The cool weather is junior Chloey DiBartolo’s favorite part of fall. “It makes walking outside so much more refreshing,” she said. She also likes how the colder weather means she can wear fall clothing, such as boots and scarves.
By the end of October, everyone is anxious for the long awaited for holiday to arrive—Halloween. Senior Trevor Cilik loves Halloween for many reasons. “It shows how creative people can be through their house decorations and costumes,” he said.
Furthermore, Halloween movies are brought back out for viewing. “They never fail to put a smile on my face,” DiBartolo said. Movies such as Halloweentown and Twitches always bring back the memories of her childhood.
Although Halloween movies can be watched during anytime of the year, Muttilo expresses why she likes it the most during the fall. “It doesn’t seem right unless it’s during Halloween time. Every Halloween night, my family sits down and watches one,” she said.
According to most students, Autumn is one of the best parts of the year.
