After conquering the Chardon Hilltoppers for the second time this year, the Mayfield football team is locking in for their second round matchup against the Raiders of Warren Harding.

The highly anticipated game kicks off at 7:30 PM from Solon’s Stewart Field. The Raiders defeated Madison in the first-round—a huge upset considering the Blue Streaks handed Mayfield its only loss.

“A lot of people aren’t sure what this team is going to bring to the table,” public address announcer Brian Francetic said, “but the fact that they knocked-off Madison proves that they can’t be underestimated.”

Mayfield’s talented group of seniors know they need to step up if they want to continue their journey to the school’s first State Championship.

“From what we’ve seen on film they have a few really talented guys,” said senior linebacker Carl Stacey, who recorded four tackles for loss in the win over Chardon. “We’ve got to lock in on their skill position players—especially their quarterback and running back.”
