Mayfield High School students are going to have to wait even longer to receive their yearbooks this year.

According to yearbook advisor John Sullivan, one page had been printed twice, leaving one page out.

“I always review the book—Mr. Legan and I—when we get the book; we look for glaring issues,” Sullivan said. “ Is there anything profane in the book that we might’ve missed? Is there anything inappropriate? Are there any big mistakes that we need to fix?

Within about two minutes of looking at this year’s book, the yearbook company had accidentally printed page 104 twice. The volleyball page that we made—page 105—is not there and the cheerleader spread was printed twice. I contacted the company and let them know.

They looked into it and, apparently, a human being at the plant had mistakenly loaded up that page twice when we placed it. What Herff Jones—the company—is doing is taking the book back. They will pull out pages 103, 104, 105, and 106, and they will reprint them, put them in, and then the books will all be sent back.”

The mishap, occurring due to an editing error by the company, will be attended to and corrected relatively quickly. There will be a two to three week delay in getting the correct yearbooks out to buyers.

In recent memory, this is the only mishap occurring with Herff Jones after many years of printing the school’s yearbooks.

Starting with this school year, the school will move to Jostens as their primary yearbook printer. This is not due to the printing mishap. Rather it is due to the fact that any limits induced by Jones “have been reduced within Jostens,” according to Sullivan.

Herff Jones could not be reached for comment prior to posting.
