Don Ramon brings Mexican flair to Mayfield Road

With just a glance of the stunning décor and a brilliant whiff of the frijoles, the fajitas, the enchiladas, and more, you instantly know you’re in for a treat.

It is the marvelous ambiance of the restaurant Don Ramon that makes it so enjoyable. It’s got the whole package—beautiful brickwork, soothing lights, fabulous scents, friendly employees, and, most importantly, delicious food.

Look, I’ve been to Texas multiple times—I’ve had authentic Tex-Mex meals. This is Cleveland, Ohio. It’s tough to find anything comparable up here.

Yet you can rest assured because Don Ramon is pretty great. Sure, it cannot beat what they have in the South, but it very well may be the best Mexican joint in this area.

I ordered the chimichangas, served with rice and guacamole salad on the side, for $11.20. If you don’t know what chimichangas are and you’ve only heard them from Deadpool, you’re missing out. At Don Ramon, they are made to perfection, with just enough meat inside and creamy cheese sauce on top.

The traditional Mexican rice on the side was delicious, too, and the guacamole salad fits the meal nicely. Yet not only do you get your scrumptious meal here, you also get bottomless chips and salsa. These chips are fresh and warm, and the salsa is not too spicy, so anyone would like it.

Furthermore, the servings at Don Ramon are huge.

As Spanish teacher Phillip Deaton said, “I only eat half, and I have the other half for lunch the next day. It’s the best because I pay once and receive two lunches. Who wouldn’t like that, right?”

Thus, the food is worth the money—and even better, it doesn’t take long at all. The service is incredibly fast. We were seated right away, the waiter brought the refreshments quickly, took our orders, and before we knew it, our meal was ready.

Not only are the waiters prompt but they also very friendly. They seem to genuinely care about the guests and their needs.

Deaton took note of this, too. He said, “They are all friendly there. When we go, the managers always come to our table to greet us, and we can talk…as a teacher of Spanish, I can speak to them in Spanish.”

This very cultural environment, welcoming atmosphere, and dedicated service was also observed by senior Teresa Aniev. Commenting on the restaurant as a whole, she said, “The food itself was really good. You could tell there was a lot of culture integrated into the food and the setup of the place.”

Clearly, Don Ramon is an excellent place to dine out. The food is delightful, the service is superb, the employees are amiable, and the look of the place is just gorgeous. Therefore, I highly recommend you give this place a try next time you’re in the mood for Mexican.
