President-elect Donald Trump could be the one to end the funding of Planned Parenthood, an institution designed to provide resources for young adults and teens in need of help, by cutting off the support of taxpayer money.

While this may be the first thing Trump does in his term as president come the end of January, some Republicans as well as many Democrats believe he would be making a huge mistake to defund Planned Parenthood.

Susan Collins, Republican senator from Maine defends the organization. She told the AP, “It provides important family planning, cancer screening, and basic preventive health care services to millions of women across the country.”

However, politicians that share similar and controlling views as Trump, still believe they should make a woman’s decision for her, endorsing the efforts to stop the support of Planned Parenthood solely because it provides abortion resources.

According to these politicians, most likely older white men, abortions seem to be the only services that Planned Parenthood provides. When in reality, they actually do so much more.

According to the official website of Planned Parenthood, it is “one of the nation’s leading providers of high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and young people, and the nation’s largest provider of sex education.”

With Trump’s presidential term closing in, it seems that people must fight for their right to have this source of affordable health care. There is little Planned Parenthood can do to fight this incredible lack of support, since Trump is too stubborn to quit as he said he is “committed to defunding it” and called the health center an “abortion factory.”

However, the organization is still doing what it can to get donations from its supporters before Trump takes office, setting up an easy way to donate money through their official website as a last stitch effort to sustain their legacy as a helpful organization.
