Science Showcase event a success

The Science Showcase is a program created by Mayfield to show all the new things that the high schoolers have been learning to the community.

It all started about 10 years ago when science teachers Bobby Friel and Jeff Moegling were still running their science fair.  Moegling said, “The Science Fair was good but the only problem was that it did not include all the grade levels and hence we decided to create the Science Showcase to showcase all the innovative things people use every day.”

Since then, Mayfield has hosted its own science showcase every year.  Moegling said, “It is like a playoff for academics; there are a lot of people that attend and it is a positive thing to see people walk away smiling.”

Kristy Palmeri is another science teacher who’s involved in the event.  She said, “It is a nice way for the community to see all of the work in the science classes from hands-on experiments and a good opportunity for students to show independent science projects.  It’s all schools and all grade levels. Something for everyone.”
