Ben Bremec, Guest Writer

In an exclusive interview, The Paw Print’s Ben Bremec sat down with Mrs. Lacy Long-Goldberg about her upcoming plans for summer.

Ben: Where exactly are you traveling to this summer?
Long-Goldberg: I’m not exactly sure the name of the city or cities that we will be going to this summer but my husband and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica.

Ben: That seems pretty interesting. Are you flying down to Costa Rica?
Long-Goldberg: Yes we are definitely flying and airfare seems pretty reasonable but I don’t know if we will have layovers or if it is going to be a direct flight.

Ben: What are some activities you are going to be doing in Costa Rica?
Long-Goldberg: Costa Rica is a rainforest area so we are definitely thinking about hiking and looking at some of the sights in the rainforest. Shopping will for sure be fun in another country. Of course we are also going to check out some of the restaurants and trying the Costa Rican food. We are really trying to experience as much of the culture as we can.

Ben: It seems like a very interesting trip. Have you ever traveled anywhere before like in or out of the country and where’d you go?
Long-Goldberg: I have never traveled outside of the country so this will be my first international trip, and as far as travelling in the United States I have travelled a limited range of places. I have gone to Madison, Wisconsin, I have been to Chicago a few times, I’ve been to Florida, New York, Kentucky, Indiana, Pennsylvania, so mostly states that are around Ohio and a few outliers.

Ben: When you go to Costa Rica are you going to stay by the beach or more in the city?
Long-Goldberg: I think we are going to try and stay in a couple different areas so I think we would try to stay by the beach, and we have also been reading online about a place where you actually stay inside the rainforest for a night. They have these boutique hotels where you would be surrounded by nature and maybe have a chance of seeing some wildlife right outside your door. Also we are going to try and stay in the city and try and see some of the city life as well, but we are trying to stay in the safest spots that we could find and stay there.

Ben: What do you like about travelling in the summer as opposed to travelling in the winter or spring?
Long-Goldberg: What I like best about the summer is there are more options of when you can go because being a teacher the spring break and winter break are fairly limited and I find having fewer days to choose from is more stressful so you get more time to relax in the summer.

Ben: What are some things you’ve done on previous trips?
Long-Goldberg: We go to the ocean, check out local restaurants. Sometimes I will rent bikes and ride them around and check out the scenery, we go shopping for clothes and things like that.

Ben: Is this your first trip with your husband?
Long-Goldberg: It would be our very first big trip the two of us have gone on. We drove to Chicago before, we drove to Wisconsin before, we’ve gone to New York together before, but nothing so big and for such a long trip and so we never took a honeymoon after we got married so this would be like a honeymoon almost but delayed by six years.
