Tomorrow afternoon, Mayfield is hosting its fall pep assembly to celebrate the end of the fall sports regular season.

To make the assembly more fun, teachers will compete against students in a series of mini-games, including musical chairs, a three-legged race, and a scooter race.

Administrator Jacqui Baker is a new assistant principal and is coordinating the pep rally. She said, “This assembly was on the schedule I got when I was hired for things I had to organize. It is to celebrate the end of the fall sports season and the start of playoffs.”

Baker has always felt that having fun enables a positive environment. Baker said, “It is important to be serious but there is a good balance, and I think that is very important. Laughing together enables you to see a different side of each other, and it’s good for the environment.”

Sophomore Vice President Emma Tisch is excited to be playing on the sophomore team in the assembly. She said, “It’s a good time for all of us to come together and support Mayfield. It will be a lot of fun overall!”

Tisch thinks this pep rally is going to provide benefits for both staff and students. Tisch said, “I think after everything with Covid, it’s a good time for all of us to come together and show our school spirit.”

Baker decided to ask all the Student Council class officers to compete in the games. Tisch said, “When Ms. Baker asked me to be on the sophomore team, I felt very excited. I’m excited to compete against the teachers.”

Lacy Long-Goldberg, an English teacher, volunteered to be on the teacher team. She said, “I am absolutely excited to be on the teacher team! It’s a great way to have fun with the staff and at the very least make the students laugh!”

The pep assembly will take place tomorrow at 1:05pm in the Wood Gym.
