Due to the warm temperatures this week and inconsistent air conditioning in classrooms, principal Jeff Legan allowed staff to wear shorts. For the first time in years, juniors were also not invited to the Honors Assembly in the auditorium to avoid overheating that space.

The student walkout occurred at 11:00am on Friday, May 12, which led to students walking from the flag pole to Lander Road. Principal Jeff Legan said, My hope is that our students conduct a peaceful protest in a safe setting.

Kate is a senior at Mayfield High School and the founder of The Paw Print. She plans to pursue political journalism as a career and study Political Science and Creative Writing in university. When she isn't scrambling to organize meetings and hanging flyers in the hallway, you can probably find her petting a dog or dramatically reading the poetry of Sylvia Plath or T.S. Eliot.
